A four part film series directed by John Mackenzie and produced by Deirdrie Keir for BBC Scotland starring Robert Carlyle.
The series was shot on location in Edinburgh and Glasgow with studio work in Glasgow. Maurice Cain designed. I was Art Director.
The Angel Pub exterior was formed round the Sighthill Community Centre in Edinburgh.
The Crocodile Club was a redecorated and propped bar in Edinburgh.
Council flat interiors were shot on two full composites, left and right handed variations. The sets were built in Glasgow studios and were revamped into four different interiors.
The Police Station interiors were a disused public baths in Glasgow.
The composite interior set was radically rebuilt with a dividing wall requiring to be demolished in shot.
We had two hoardings built - the most contentious being erected on the Craigmillar Estate the day prior to shooting.
The hoarding was petrol bombed during the night so hasty repairs had to take place before filming could begin.
